Campus Gospel Work at Princeton University
Acts 13:1-2 Now there were in Antioch, in the local church, prophets and teachers: Barnabas and Simeon, who called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenian, and Manaen, the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. And as they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, set apart for Me now Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.
The beginning of chapter 13 from the book of Acts gives us a clear view that after a local church is established, there is a group of brothers begin prayers and fasting for the Lord’s move. As they were ministering to the Lord, the Holy Spirit set apart few of them for the work to which the Lord has called. Similarly, the Church in Hamilton which began its Lord’s table meeting in year 2007 was under the same condition. God’s blessing follows along as the church was being established. As the number of people continuously multiplied, groups of pure hearted saints answered the calling from the Lord for the work which He has called them.
In year 2010, several young brothers and sisters from Church in Hamilton, prayed in oneness for the gospel work of Princeton University. Many of these young saints had received the Lord for about two to three years and some not even a year. They were constrained by the love of the Lord and filled with the spirit of gospel. Like Daniel in the Old Testament, they pray unceasingly for three weeks 21 days. As a result, the door for the gospel of Princeton University was opened. For three consecutive weekends, we booked the student activity center on campus and had 7 gospel meetings and love feasts, welcomed the new students. We contacted more than 80 students in three weeks, 5 students were baptized and more than 20 students received the Lord.
Ever since year 2010, in the beginning of each new semester, we would have gospel meetings on campus. After gospel meetings, there will be weekly campus and home meetings for those who are open to the gospel. In year 2012, we had three postdocs who received the Lord and got baptized. From this year onward, not only do we preach gospels, but we also need to devote time and love in perfecting these students, so that they will be able to bear the burden in preaching gospel on campus. May the Lord raise more of His workers to shepherd the new ones in Princeton University so that we may be built up and be perfected in the Body of Christ.
